It is no fun for most people, but for those of us with OCD tendencies, there is a real element of satisfaction with it.
Sadly (or not, depending on your point of view), my three children have inherited the same tendency – it is very strong in my side of the family. Yesterday my daughter came home with a filing box for greeting cards…what? That was my first thought too,until we looked int the cupboard at numerous bags full of purchases cards – all over the place and we had no idea what was in there.
They are now all in the box filed by category and if someone has a new baby, we can immediately find an appropriate card.
That is how your filing should work; you are looking for, say, your car registration and insurance documents – you should be able to locate it immediately.
There are many ways of setting up your system and colours can be your friend here to get you organised. It makes everything less boring and you can set up colours that represent certain categories to help you Get Sorted.
